Farmer Runs Over 6-Year-Old For Allegedly Stealing An Orange

Justice Demanded After Farmer Allegedly Runs Over 6-Year-Old Boy in Lutzville

The family of 6-year-old Khwezi Jantjies from Lutzville is demanding justice after local farmer Christoffel Stoman allegedly ran over the child, breaking both of his legs.

The incident occurred last Friday after Stoman accused the young boy of stealing an orange from his farm.

Activists in the area are planning protests as Stoman applies for bail on Monday. They claim this is not the first time the farmer has committed such an act.

Khwezi’s mother, Magdalena Jantjies, expressed her relief that her only son survived the ordeal.

She shared that she had no prior relationship with the farmer, and even after the incident, 70-year-old Stoman showed no remorse or offered assistance.

Despite his injuries, Khwezi remains in good spirits.

Community activist Billy Claasen is calling for lawmakers to take stronger action against farmers involved in such crimes.

Khwezi is scheduled to undergo surgery at Paarl Provincial Hospital on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Stoman will face the Vredendal Magistrate’s Court on Monday for his bail hearing, which the state intends to oppose due to the severity of the charges.
