Advocate Dali Mpofu Departs EFF to Join Zuma’s MK Party, Malema Reacts!
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader and advocate Dali Mpofu, a longtime legal representative of former president Jacob Zuma, has announced his departure from Julius Malema’s party to join the recently established uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, co-founded with Zuma.
Mpofu, who previously served as the EFF’s national chairperson, said his decision followed extensive reflection, aligning with his belief in the MK party’s vision of “total black and progressive unity” and decolonization.
Dali Mpofu’s departure adds to a trend of notable EFF figures leaving to join MK, including former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu, now the MK party’s national organizer, and former MPs Mzwanele Manyi and Busisiwe Mkhwebane. He acknowledged personal issues with Malema and confirmed that while he hadn’t informed Malema directly, he plans to do so following the announcement.
Malema responded to the growing defections by suggesting that more senior EFF leaders may leave soon, reportedly hinting at Mbuyiseni Ndlozi and Veronica Mente.

Sources indicate the EFF is addressing internal concerns and “infiltrators” ahead of its December conference, while Malema has vowed the party will continue “standing strong” despite the defections.
