Deadline Looms: Update Your Prepaid Electricity Meter Before 24 November 2024

Time is running out for South Africans to update their prepaid electricity meters, with the looming deadline of 24 November 2024.
Meters not recoded from KRN 1 to KRN 2 will stop working, leaving residents unable to load electricity tokens.
How to Check Your Meter’s Status
- Enter code 1844 6744 0738 4377 2416 on your prepaid meter.
- If the display shows 1, your meter needs an update. If it shows 2, your meter is already updated.
Steps to Update Your Meter
- Obtain two key change tokens from your local or online vendor once prompted.
- Enter the first 20-digit token and wait for acceptance.
- Enter the second 20-digit token and wait for acceptance.
- Enter the 20-digit token of your electricity voucher to recharge on KRN 2.
Important Notes
- Tokens purchased before the update won’t work after your meter is recoded.
- Both Eskom and municipal customers must update their meters.
