DJ Sbu Faces Backlash Over Street Vendor Video

Social media has erupted after DJ Sbu, real name Sbusiso Leope, posted a controversial video criticizing a street vendor for not selling his MoFaya energy drink.

Known for championing street vendors, the 47-year-old musician and entrepreneur surprised followers with his remarks, asking the vendor, “You don’t have MoFaya? Which world are you living in?” before driving away.

The video sparked widespread disappointment, with many accusing him of embarrassing and disrespecting the vendor.

In response to the backlash, DJ Sbu issued a public apology, stating:
“I’m sorry guys for any offence. None was intended. We are empowering my brother as we speak. More to come soon. It’s all love.”

To make amends, DJ Sbu shared another video of himself gifting the vendor packs of MoFaya and R200, saying, “I’m sorry, and now you are selling MoFaya.”

Despite his attempts to reconcile, critics remain unconvinced, with some accusing him of chasing clout and calling for a boycott of his product.
