5 KILLED: Eastern Cape Police Hunt for Family Murderers in Bityi

Eastern Cape police are searching for the gunmen responsible for the murder of five family members in Bityi, near Port St Johns.

The incident occurred on Friday while the family was asleep in two houses on the same property.

A husband and wife were shot dead in their rondavel, and the attackers then fired on another house, killing three more family members and injuring two children.

The surviving children escaped and alerted neighbors, who notified the police.

Police commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene condemned the attack and has deployed experienced detectives to track down the suspects.

This tragedy follows a recent mass shooting in Ngobozana village, where 17 people were killed.
