Bafana Bafana’s victory, with goals from Teboho Mokoena, Bathusi Aubaas, Lyle Foster, and Iqraam Rayners, brought the national team closer to qualifying for AFCON 2025 in Morocco.

However, the team’s triumph was somewhat overshadowed by an incident in the stands involving Mama Joy, known for her flamboyant outfits and unwavering support for the national team.

A clip shared on social media by an X user, @bhutikhens, showed Mama Joy reportedly “bullying” a younger fan during the match.

The post, which quickly went viral with nearly 400,000 views, accused Mama Joy of seeking camera attention while dismissing a young fan’s attempt to show his artwork of Bafana’s goalkeeper and 2024 Ballon D’or nominee, Ronwen Williams.

In the video, the young fan excitedly waved his poster when the camera panned to the stands.

However, Mama Joy was seen smacking the paper out of the boy’s hands, appearing to want the camera focused solely on her. This act, caught on live television, led to a wave of online criticism.

Mixed Reactions Online

The incident sparked a heated debate online, with many users calling out Mama Joy for her actions. Some accused her of being self-centered, while others defended her, saying it may have been a misunderstanding. Despite the divided opinions, the video continues to circulate widely on social media.

As Bafana Bafana prepares for the return leg against Congo Brazzaville on 15 October, the attention remains on both the team’s AFCON qualification hopes and the controversy surrounding one of their most dedicated supporters.
