WATCH | Seven Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Kloof Nek Road, Cape Town

A multi-vehicle collision on Kloof Nek Road, Cape Town, late Thursday evening (26 September) left seven people injured.

The incident occurred when a cement truck lost control while descending the road, crashing into approximately 17 vehicles before coming to a halt against a building.

Ward 77 councillor, Francine Higham, confirmed the details of the crash, while Byron la Hoe, spokesperson for the Western Cape Health Department, provided updates on the victims.

Two individuals were admitted to Groote Schuur Hospital and Chris Barnard Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, while four others were treated for mild injuries at Groote Schuur and New Somerset Hospital.

Maxine Bezuidenhout, spokesperson for the City’s Traffic Services, reported that the accident took place just after 18:30.

Kloof Nek Road, which was closed between Upper Union and Burnside Road, was reopened at 5:00 the following morning.
