Mzambiya Quits Music For Good!

Mzambiya Quits Music: A Kwaito Legend’s Final Bow

Fans thought Mzambiya, real name Nkosinathi Zwane, had left the music scene for good a few years ago, but he had only taken a brief hiatus.

He made a strong comeback with his single “iMoto Ka Shukela,” blending Kwaito and Hip-Hop. Now, the Kwaito legend has officially announced his retirement from music.

Mzambiya, the owner of Earth Nurture Records, confirmed that he is stepping away from the mic to focus on developing new talent.

In a statement, he said, “I am writing to formally resign from my position as a recording artist. After much thought, I’ve decided to take a different path and explore new opportunities. Earth Nurture Records will continue to discover and release new music as promised.”

While leaving his music career behind, Mzambiya will still be involved in the entertainment industry through acting and TV presenting.

Reflecting on his journey, he expressed gratitude, saying, “I’m truly thankful for all the support since my debut in 2000. The experience and lessons from the showbiz world have been invaluable.”

Mzambiya rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits like “Mele Senzeni” and “Jersey Number 10.” Hailing from Zola, Soweto, he became one of the most influential Kwaito artists, pioneering the genre. He also revealed that he made over R14 million during his two-decade-long music career.

The Kwaito icon may have closed the chapter on his music career, but his impact on the South African music industry will continue through the artists he nurtures and the legacy he leaves behind.
