DA Fires Racist MP Renaldo Gouws, Sparking Controversy

DA Terminates Renaldo Gouws for Racist Remarks

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has officially terminated the membership of Renaldo Gouws after allegations of racism surfaced.

Shortly after Gouws was sworn in as a member of Parliament in June, an old video emerged showing him using racial slurs and insulting Black people.

The video, which circulated on social media, led to his suspension while the DA conducted investigations.

The DA’s national spokesperson, Willie Aucamp, announced the decision to terminate Gouws’ membership, stating that the party’s Federal Executive (FedEx) unanimously resolved to remove him.

As a result, Gouws lost his Parliamentary seat. Aucamp explained that the decision followed an in-depth investigation by the DA’s Federal Legal Commission (FLC), which found Gouws guilty of violating the party’s constitution.

The DA reiterated its commitment to accountability, non-racialism, and respect for all South Africans.

The controversial video, originally posted on Gouws’ YouTube channel 16 years ago, resurfaced earlier this year. In the footage, Gouws was heard making violent, racist statements, urging the killing of Black people.

Despite his public apology and claims of immaturity at the time, the DA found his actions inexcusable.

After learning about the party’s decision, Gouws expressed his disappointment on social media.

While he respected the party’s process, he disagreed with the FLC’s findings and believes his past comments were taken out of context.

Gouws also hinted that political motivations played a role in the DA’s decision and said he is considering legal action to challenge the ruling and clear his name.
