President Ramaphosa Offers Condolences and Support to Flood-Affected Eastern Cape Families

The recent floods in the Eastern Cape have brought devastation to many areas, including Nelson Mandela Bay, Buffalo City, and Kariega. The floods have caused loss of life, significant damage to infrastructure, and displacement of families.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his deep condolences to the affected families and offered support during this difficult time.

In a statement, President Ramaphosa said, “The loss of life, destruction of public infrastructure, and the loss of personal property brought about by the forces of nature saddens all of us as South Africans. The aftermath of these occurrences is best overcome when we work together in the way we are seeing in the Eastern Cape.” His thoughts are particularly with the families of those who have lost loved ones and those reported missing.

He commends the collaborative efforts of authorities, communities, NGOs, and individuals in the rescue and recovery operations, including the rehousing of numerous displaced families.

In light of the potential impacts of the winter season across the country, President Ramaphosa urges the public to heed weather alerts and exercise caution on the roads during poor weather conditions. He also calls on citizens to support vulnerable family members and community members to ensure they remain safe and comfortable during this challenging season.
