Durban, Newlands: ALS Paramedics are currently on the scene of a fatal crash where a 7-year-old girl has been killed and multiple other children injured on Inanda Road near Parlock Road in the Newlands area, north of Durban.
At approximately 06:45 yesterday morning, ALS Paramedics responded to a serious taxi crash involving a vehicle carrying school children. The collision resulted in the tragic death of a young girl and injuries to five other children.
Upon arrival, paramedics were met with a devastating scene. The vehicle, which had seven occupants, collided with a taxi in a rear-end collision. Despite the paramedics’ swift response and efforts to save her, the young girl, believed to be seven years old, was declared deceased at the scene due to multiple injuries.
Five other children sustained various injuries and were stabilized on the scene before being transported to different hospitals in Durban for further care. The occupants of the taxi were uninjured.
The exact cause of the collision remains unknown at this stage. SAPS were in attendance and will be conducting an investigation to determine the events leading up to the tragic accident.
