Six Armed Suspects Killed in Eastern Cape Shootout, Including Notorious Gangster Yanga ‘Bara’ Nyalara

Six armed suspects were fatally shot during a confrontation with police in Gcuwa (Butterworth), Eastern Cape, on Thursday afternoon.
Among them was Yanga “Bara” Nyalara, a feared figure from Khayelitsha with a history of serious criminal allegations.
The suspects, traveling in vehicles without registration plates, opened fire on police after being pursued on the N2 near Ndabakazi village.
Police retaliated, killing all six individuals and recovering firearms from their vehicles.
Nyalara, who had multiple charges withdrawn in the past due to witness intimidation or murder, was previously implicated in murders, attempted murders, armed robbery, rape, and extortion.
The case is now under investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).
