Ramaphosa Unlikely to Sign Visa-Free Deal with Ukraine, Says ANC’s Mbalula
"He is Crazy and Overly Excited" – Mbalula Slams Schreiber Over Ukraine Visa-Free Agreement Announcement

JOHANNESBURG – African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula announced that President Cyril Ramaphosa would likely not sign the proposed visa-free agreement between South Africa and Ukraine, which has been under discussion since 2020.
The agreement aims to allow Ukrainian diplomats visa-free access to South Africa.
On Monday, Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber shared on social media that he was “delighted” to have signed the agreement, stating he had referred it to President Ramaphosa for final approval.
However, the Presidency clarified that the agreement was yet to be signed, sparking debate on social media, with ANC members suggesting Schreiber was prematurely announcing the deal.

“Leon Schreiber claims to have signed the Ukraine agreement. He is crazy and overly excited,” Mbalula said, adding that he was confident Ramaphosa would not approve the deal.
Minister of International Relations Ronald Lamola also confirmed that the agreement was still pending finalization.
