Winnie Khumalo’s Health Scare

Veteran South African singer Winnie Khumalo recently experienced a health scare after being admitted to a Johannesburg hospital for shortness of breath, which led to an unexpected asthma diagnosis.

This weekend incident left Winnie surprised, as she had no prior knowledge of her asthma. Now, she is recovering at home, sharing, “I didn’t know I had asthma until I struggled to breathe. It was confusing, but doctors assured me it’s in the early stages, and I just need to manage it well.”

This isn’t the first health challenge for Winnie. Previously diagnosed with diabetes, she has been managing her condition successfully by focusing on a healthy lifestyle.

In 2017, she faced another setback after a back operation, requiring her to use a wheelchair temporarily due to complications from an abscess.

Despite these challenges, Winnie remains determined, saying, “I am a fighter. Many of my peers have passed on, but I want to see my grandchildren grow up.”

In August, Winnie’s daughter, Rethabile Khumalo, was also hospitalized after an alleged poisoning incident.
