Tragedy on R40 Road: Sibling Shot While Assisting Stranded Vehicle in Mpumalanga
Siblings Shot And Robbed After Stopping To Help Stranded Vehicle
In the early hours of Sunday, two siblings were attacked while stopping to help a vehicle along the R40 Road near a nature reserve in Mpumalanga.
This tragic incident left one sibling fatally shot and the other injured. Mpumalanga police are actively investigating and urging the public to help identify those responsible for the shooting and robbery, according to IOL.
Police report that around 2:20 a.m., the siblings noticed a familiar vehicle parked along the road and stopped to offer assistance.

However, they were suddenly met with gunfire. One sibling was struck in the lower body, while the other suffered a fatal shot to the back. The attacker also stole a firearm from the siblings before fleeing the scene.
Despite injuries, the surviving sibling managed to drive to a nearby hospital, but sadly, his brother did not survive.
A manhunt is underway to locate the suspects. Police are calling for anyone with information to contact Lieutenant Colonel Busisiwe Kunene at 082 422 8189 or the Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111.

In light of this tragedy, Acting Provincial Police Commissioner Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi advised the public to be cautious when encountering stranded vehicles, especially at night. He recommends contacting police for assistance in such situations to prioritize safety.
