Sifiso Maseko Resigns as MKP Secretary-General
Sifiso Maseko has officially resigned from his position as secretary-general of the Umkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP), effective 4 November 2024.
In a letter addressed to MKP President Jacob Zuma, Maseko explained that his decision was due to his return to his role as the chief director of infrastructure at the Gauteng Department of Health, following the lifting of his suspension.
The resignation follows a tumultuous period within the party, which saw Maseko succeed Arthur Zwane as secretary-general in July 2024.
However, Maseko’s tenure was brief, lasting only nine days before Zwane was reinstated to the position, following internal party discussions.
Maseko’s departure marks another shift in the party’s leadership, which has seen multiple changes in recent months.
