De Mthuda Snubbed From His Own Song Performance At SAMAs

De Mthuda Left Out of SAMAs Performance Due to Major Production Error, Management Demands Accountability

The South African Music Awards (SAMAs) organizers are facing backlash after a major production blunder left popular DJ and producer De Mthuda unable to perform at the event’s pre-party.

De Mthuda, whose real name is Mthuthuzeli Gift Khoza, had been invited by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) and Sjula D Productions to showcase his latest release featuring Kabza De Small, Young Stunna, McKenzie, MKeyz, and Mthunzi.

This song’s public debut was eagerly awaited by fans.

According to De Mthuda’s management, the DJ arrived on time, but production delays kept him waiting for over an hour.

Eventually, he was asked to wait in his car due to the lack of a designated artist waiting area. To his shock, producers proceeded to film the performance with only the featured artists, excluding De Mthuda entirely.

Expressing deep disappointment, De Mthuda’s manager, Thabiso Khati, questioned how a show could be presented without its headlining artist.

Although the production company apologized for the oversight, they declined to re-record the performance to include De Mthuda. His management is now considering options to address this incident.

RiSA responded to the situation, acknowledging the public statement from De Mthuda’s team and describing the incident as “regrettable and unfortunate.”

RiSA’s CEO, Nhlanhla Sibisi, issued an apology on behalf of the SAMAs organizing team to De Mthuda and his team, emphasizing the importance of treating artists with the respect they deserve.
