South Africans Launch Petition To Bar Chidimma Adetshina From Miss Universe 2024

South African Group Launches Petition to Disqualify Chidimma Adetshina from Miss Universe 2024

A South African organization called Progressive Forces has started a petition against Chidimma Adetshina, urging the Miss Universe pageant to prevent her from competing in the upcoming Miss Universe 2024.

This petition follows Adetshina’s arrival in Mexico on Wednesday, where she is set to represent Nigeria in the global competition scheduled for November.

Chidimma Adetshina previously faced significant criticism in South Africa when she was announced as a contestant in the Miss South Africa pageant.

In light of recent developments, the South African Department of Home Affairs revealed that preliminary evidence indicates her mother was involved in fraud and identity theft.

Following these allegations, Adetshina withdrew from the Miss South Africa contest and accepted an invitation to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant instead.

In response to the situation, Progressive Forces submitted a petition to the Miss Universe organizers on Wednesday, arguing that Chidimma’s participation could harm the integrity of the Miss Universe brand.

Within just 24 hours, the petition has garnered over 1,000 signatures.

The group expressed their concerns, stating, “We are greatly concerned about Chidimma Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria, whose mother has been found guilty of committing identity fraud. On the 29th of October, Home Affairs cancelled Chidimma Adetshina and her mother’s identities by court order. We are writing on behalf of everyone who stands for justice to plead with Miss Universe to cancel her entry.”
