Lungelo Tyson Mathonsi Bids Farewell to Iconic Villain Role in Sibongile & The Dlaminis
Actor Lungelo Tyson Mathonsi recently took to Instagram on October 31 to say goodbye to his role as Jabu Mazibuko, the villainous character in Sibongile & The Dlaminis.
In his post, Mathonsi shared, “Dear Jabu Mazibuko. I’ve grown and healed through telling your story. And in our entire journey together, I hope that you have too. Till we meet again, bro.”
Mathonsi has become a well-known face in South African TV, also portraying Sakhile Ramabulana, the son of Dr. Nonhlanhla Ximba (played by Leleti Khumalo) in SABC 2’s soap opera Muvhango.

His Journey in Sibongile & The Dlaminis
Mathonsi joined Sibongile & The Dlaminis in its second season, playing the role of Jabu Mazibuko, Sibongile’s love interest and Kwenzo’s frenemy.
The character of Jabu is driven by a quest for revenge, holding the Dlaminis responsible for his father’s tragic death.
Haunted by his father’s memory, Jabu is willing to go to any lengths to avenge him, even nearly killing his father’s former employer.

With his background funded by a bursary from his father’s employer, Mgazini Timbers, Jabu attended a prestigious boarding school and rose through the ranks, ultimately joining the powerful Dlamini family in his pursuit of vengeance.
