TikTok Removes Over 614,000 Videos from South Africa to Boost User Safety
TikTok has removed over 614,000 videos from South African accounts as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance user safety and uphold community guidelines.
This information was highlighted in TikTok’s 2024 Quarter 2 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, which shows South Africa ranking in the Top 50 for video removals worldwide.
Egypt leads Africa, with over 2.7 million videos removed.

Of the banned videos, 98.7% were taken down before any user reported them, and 88.4% were removed within 24 hours of detection, underscoring TikTok’s commitment to prompt action.
Additionally, around 143,998 accounts were permanently banned for guideline violations.
Globally, TikTok removed approximately 178 million videos in June alone, demonstrating the platform’s dedication to maintaining a safe, welcoming space for its users.
