NORTHERN CAPE – The illicit mining multi-disciplinary team, Operation Vala Umgodi conducted crime prevention operations and followed up on intelligence driven information regarding alleged drug activities taking place in Postmasburg.
Information led to the raiding of identified drug houses on Friday, 03 May 2024.
During the operation, nine (9) male suspects between the ages of 20 and 48 years old were arrested for illegal possession of suspected drugs with an estimated street value of R22 000, possession of ammunition and possession of suspected stolen goods.

The team also confiscated money believed to be the proceeds of crime, cell phones, drugs, suspected stolen South African Defence Force (SANDF) uniforms, ammunition and gas pistols.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Postmasburg Magistrates Court soon.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola applauded the team for removing dangerous weapons and drugs from the streets and encouraged communities to continue reporting illegal activities to the police. – Source
