A tragic accident in Tembisa on Wednesday morning has left a nine-year-old child dead and a 13-year-old seriously injured.

The children were on their way to school with the younger girl’s mother when their Hyundai Grand i10 collided with a BMW, allegedly driven by a 29-year-old soccer player, on Andrew Mapheto Road around 7:30 a.m.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police spokesperson Thabiso Makgato reported that the soccer player fled the scene after the crash.
