Siya Kolisi Slid Into Rachel’s DMs While He Was In A Relationship

In a surprising revelation from his 2023 autobiography Rise, Springboks captain Siya Kolisi admits he pursued his now-estranged wife, Rachel, while still in a relationship with another woman.

The confession sheds light on their early days and has added fuel to recent discussions about the couple’s separation, announced this week after eight years of marriage.

Siya shared openly about his past habits, saying he “loved drinking, loved girls,” and spent recklessly, even frequenting strip clubs.

In Rise, Siya also reveals he first reached out to Rachel on social media after meeting her with friends in 2012, even though he was accompanied by his then-girlfriend.

He wrote, “There was something about her… it was the way she carried herself.”

Their relationship sparked from what he described as friendly online conversations, though Siya admits he was “young, still 20, and full of it.” Despite being in a rocky relationship, Siya continued to pursue Rachel.

Social media attention around Siya’s past DM interactions with other women has also been part of the narrative.

In 2019, Rachel publicly called out a Cape Town woman she accused of messaging Siya, although the woman denied any wrongdoing.

Fitness model Marike Botha later shared that Siya had initially messaged her about promoting his favorite swimwear brand, Franklees, and she claimed Rachel’s response led to public backlash.

Rachel faced harsh criticism from fans at the time, and although she briefly deactivated her social media accounts, she made no further comment on the matter.
