Gqeberha: The Empire Comes to an End After Two Iconic Seasons

After delivering two seasons of intense drama and captivating storytelling, Mzansi Magic has officially announced the end of the popular telenovela Gqeberha: The Empire.

The show, which represented the heart of Gqeberha, has been praised for its unique portrayal of the city and its people.

Since its premiere, Gqeberha: The Empire enchanted viewers with its gripping storylines and standout performances.

Characters like Anele Matoti’s Msimelelo, known for his humor and complexity, and Unathi Guma’s strong-willed Funeka became fan favorites.

Season 2 saw the addition of Bongile Mantsai as the menacing Hlumelo Mxenge, which added even more depth to the plot.

Shirley Adonisi, M-Net’s director of local entertainment channels, expressed gratitude to the producers, cast, and crew for their hard work in keeping audiences hooked.

The telenovela has even been nominated for two categories at the Saftas, marking a significant achievement for the production team.

Actress Zikhona Sodlaka, proud of her role in the show, emphasized the importance of Gqeberha: The Empire for the Eastern Cape, a province that had never had its own television show before.

She highlighted its rich history, noting that it is home to legends, presidents, and influential figures.
