Tragedy Strikes Naledi as Five Children Die After Allegedly Eating Poisoned Chips

The Naledi Hall was filled with grief as the community came together for a memorial service honoring the lives of five children who tragically died after allegedly consuming chips laced with poison.

The victims, Isago Mabote (7), Njabulo Msimango (7), Zinhle Maama (7), Karabo Rampou (8), and Monica Sathekge (6), passed away on Sunday, while one of their friends remains in critical condition in the hospital.

Calls for Accountability

Busi Mnguni, representing the Msimango family, urged the government to take action, calling for the return of school assemblies where children can pray.

She expressed deep concern for the Naledi community, claiming that evil forces are at play.

Mnguni suggested that there may be dark motives behind the recurring deaths of children in the area, encouraging the community to unite and protect their children.

Remembering the Victims

Each child was fondly remembered during the service. Njabulo was described as a bright boy with a mature outlook on life.

Zinhle Maama’s teacher, Dimakatso Mkhize, recalled Zinhle’s infectious smile and positive energy. Zinhle was an eager learner, always respectful, and a joy to teach.

Her teacher shared her heartache over losing such a promising student.

Concerns Over Foreign Traders

MEC for Education Matome Chiloane raised concerns about the involvement of undocumented foreign nationals in township businesses.

He emphasized the need for the community to be vigilant, stating that incidents like this must not happen again.

Chiloane called for tighter control over foreign traders operating in townships to prevent further tragedies.

The funeral for the five young victims will be held on Sunday.
