Increase in Drug Mule Arrests at OR Tambo International Airport

Law enforcement has ramped up efforts to combat drug trafficking at OR Tambo International Airport, resulting in a surge of arrests.
Over the past month, at least one drug mule has been apprehended each week, with a total of 14 arrests so far.
This week alone, three mules were detained, including two Dutch traffickers caught with 80kg of Khat and a 43-year-old man from Paraguay, who had arrived from São Paulo.

The Paraguayan mule had swallowed multiple foreign objects, with over 20 suspected cocaine bullets recovered during a medical examination.
