Outspoken Mpumalanga Activist and ANC Politician Sizwe Nyambi Shot Outside His Home

Mpumalanga activist and ANC politician Sizwe Nyambi is in critical condition after being shot multiple times outside his home in Schoemansdal on Tuesday evening.
The attack occurred shortly after Nyambi publicly criticized the “water mafia” and local officials of the Nkomazi Local Municipality for allegedly sabotaging water supply infrastructure to benefit private water tanker services.
Nyambi, known for his activism against corruption and his community development efforts, had earlier gone live on Facebook accusing municipal employees of disrupting water provision in several villages.
Hours later, he was ambushed while returning home with a companion around 9:20 p.m.
An armed man reportedly approached him near his gate, firing several shots, despite Nyambi’s attempts to escape.
Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli confirmed the incident and said the shooter fled the scene and remains at large. Nyambi was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is fighting for his life.
