It’s been lovely, says Asavela Mqokiyana after divorce decree
Actress Asavela Mqokiyana marked her divorce from her husband, Vuyisa Mqokiyana, with a lighthearted approach.
Sharing photos in black attire outside the KwaZulu-Natal High Court, Asavela embraced the end of her marriage with humor, captioning the post, “Woof woof. It has been lovely, enkosi [thank you].”
Last month, court documents revealed that Vuyisa had filed for divorce. Although Asavela stayed quiet at first, she recently confirmed the split.

In 2023, Asavela, known for her role on Isibaya, announced her pregnancy, sharing a heartfelt video from her Eastern Cape home.
During that time, she thanked her then-husband for his support, writing, “Every step of this pregnancy has been easier because of how helpful and caring you are. I love you.”
In April 2022, Asavela revealed she was no longer seeking love. She shared moments from her traditional wedding in the Eastern Cape and her new name, Kwande, after joining the Mqokiyana family.
Asavela also celebrated the completion of her dream home in August 2022, calling it their “happily ever after.” Despite the end of her marriage, she looks back fondly on the memories.
