Itumeleng Bokaba Reveals She Was Paid Only 59 Cents for Vocals on Kwesta’s Hit Song

Singer and former Rhythm City actress, Itumeleng Bokaba, recently shared a shocking revelation about her earnings from Kwesta’s hit song Mayibabo.

Bokaba, who sang the chorus on the track, disclosed in a TikTok video that she was paid only 59 cents for her contribution.

In the video, Bokaba explains how she fought for recognition by reaching out to SAMRO (South African Music Rights Organisation) to credit her for her work on the song.

However, despite her efforts, she was only able to receive a mere 59 cents in royalties.

Bokaba also revealed that she discovered the money that should have been paid to her was given to DJ Maphorisa, whose real name is Themba Sekowe.

“I was told by Nota that the money was given to Themba. At least I made 59 cents after trying to get SAMRO to add my name,” she said.

The song Mayibabo, performed by Kwesta, also features DJ Maphorisa, DJ Buckz, and Okmalumkoolkat, making Bokaba’s claim about her minimal payment even more surprising to fans.
