Winterveld, Tshwane, notorious for the “Skanai” online scam, has seen a significant breakthrough in combating this criminal activity.
The South African Police Service’s Stabilisation Task Team arrested 11 individuals linked to the scam, which has been defrauding online buyers, particularly through fake vehicle sale ads on platforms like Facebook Marketplace.
The arrests, including 10 adult males and a minor, mark a step forward in curbing crime in the area. However, local residents express concern that other syndicate members remain at large.
Authorities urge the community to report any further information to help eliminate the threat.
