Severe Weather Alert: Motorists Urged to Avoid N3 Due to Dangerous Conditions

N3 still no go as motorists stuck in their cars due to snowfall

The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has warned drivers to avoid traveling on the N3 highway due to hazardous weather.

Cold temperatures and severe conditions are expected to continue throughout the week.

Traffic on the N3 has been halted at Tugela Plaza in KwaZulu-Natal and Harrismith South Interchange in the Free State.

The N3 Toll Concession (N3TC) has closed Van Reenen’s Pass due to black ice and slippery roads caused by snowfall and freezing temperatures. Some trucks have already lost traction in the area.

Motorists are urged to prioritize safety and delay any travel plans near Van Reenen’s Pass. SAWS has issued a level 6 warning for disruptive snow, rain, and damaging winds as a cold front moves across the region.
