11-Year-Old Killed During Hijacking in Malvern

KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating the tragic death of 11-year-old Zarah Ramsamy in Malvern.

During a hijacking at a fast-food outlet, Zarah hid under the hijacked vehicle and was run over by the fleeing suspects. The child was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

The hijacking occurred around 8:30 p.m. as a woman parked her Toyota Fortuner and went into the restaurant, leaving her two children in the car. Four armed men approached, and as one suspect demanded car keys, the children saw the commotion.

Zarah hid under the vehicle while her sibling fled. The suspects took the keys and, in their escape, ran over Zarah.

She was taken to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The community, including Pastor Vernon Jacob from Embassy Church, is mourning her loss and supporting the family during this difficult time.
