Samthing Soweto Admits to Lying About DJ Maphorisa
"I Lied" Samthing Soweto Opens Up About DJ Maphorisa

In a surprising Twitter thread, Samthing Soweto revealed that he lied about DJ Maphorisa’s involvement in producing his 2019 hit album Isiphithiphithi.
The singer admitted that DJ Maphorisa, also known as Phori, didn’t produce any of the tracks on the album, despite earlier claims.
Samthing Soweto confessed that his lack of confidence in the album’s success led him to make the false statement.
“I didn’t believe my music would sell without him as the producer. It seemed like everyone loved the idea of Maphorisa being involved, so I lied,” he wrote.
The truth, according to Samthing, is that the album was actually produced by Kabza De Small, Mas Musiq, and Howard.
He also addressed the fallout from his lie, referencing DJ Maphorisa’s recent Instagram rant, where the producer discredited Samthing’s work and claimed he had supported him.
Samthing Soweto’s candid admission has sparked conversation on social media, as fans react to the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding one of his most successful projects.
I lied cos I believed it would help my album sell. The truth is, I had very little confidence in my music selling without him as producer. Seemed as if you, my audience loved the idea of him being a super producer and I was not going to go against that. So I lied.

Anyway, all I’m doing at this point is addressing claims that I was given the master to Isphithiphithi.
