Family Devastated After Grave Tampering and Body Discovery
Family of the late Gogo Gertrude Khoza is in shock and distress after discovering that her grave had been tampered with.
The body of Bonisiwe Mabuza, who was reported missing on June 25, was found in Gogo Gertrude’s grave at Luphisi Cemetery in Mpumalanga.
On July 1, police made the shocking discovery after suspects linked to Bonisiwe’s murder allegedly confessed to hiding her body in Gogo Gertrude’s grave, who was buried in 2017. Bonisiwe, 36, was exhumed on the same day.
Thembi Mathebula, Gogo Gertrude’s daughter, expressed her family’s heartbreak and disturbance over the desecration of her mother’s grave.

She mentioned that the family is considering taking further action and is unsure how to proceed with their cultural rituals at the grave, now that another person’s body had been placed there.
She also requested that Bonisiwe’s family perform their rituals to allow her family to proceed with theirs.
Three people, Marvelous Madonsela (33), Mbuyiselo Sikithi (34), and Pertunia Mhlanga (28), were arrested in connection with Bonisiwe’s murder and appeared in the KaNyamazane Magistrates Court.
